Trousers London Comments | Oct 20 2008

Trousers London is a London-based premium men’s jeanswear label recently launched by a team of four multi-disciplinary creatives.

Trousers London makes jeans for the genuine modern day gentlemen, for the man who loves the thrill of the new and is always at the forefront of the avant-garde. This season, however, brings the launch of new designs for the ladies, a slim leg and a bootleg flare with the distinctive tailoring and quirks of the men’s lines.

Honestly I was soo excited to finally see a creative flair and something new in terms of denim. Trousers London are really pushing forward the modern denim industry. They have an online store so buy a pair before the they run out! Each line is ID’d with a unique number from 1-600 per line.

We Have Band? Comments | Sep 18 2008

We Have Band

We Have Band is a group from London UK and are signed to the french music/fashion label Kitsune. Their music reminds me of a more raw and bass heavy/ art dance rock The Teenagers and an odd carnival feel like Man Man. But can anyone still say Progressive 80’s music? It doesn’t matter cause there’s a tinge of that in the music We Have Band plays. Just love it.

Can You See ODEUR in FW08/09 Comments | Sep 17 2008

Odeur 1

ODEUR2

ODEUR3

ODEUR is a label based out of Sweden and seeks to challenge conventional notions of how basic garments are constructed. A playful relation to the silhouette, a focus on details and unexpected cuttings characterizes the Odeur collection, that includes jeans, shirts, hoodies, t-shirts and scarves.

Odeur was founded in 2006 and is designed by Petter Hollström and Anna Lidström. Originally it was a final
examination project from Berghs School of Communication, seeking to broaden the opinion of what design really means from a brand perspective.

Aptform - FW08/09 Comments | Sep 16 2008

AptForm

AptForm

AptForm

AptForm

Michail Gkinis, the designer behind Aptform has a very simple concept which draws influence for his line from Greece and Tokyo.

AptForm Concept Image

Taken from his Concept section of the Aptform website:

Michail Gkinis is making meaningful clothes always progressing the Raison d’Etre into the wearers mind. The message he portrays is “form follows function” by The Bauhaus Art Movement. His admiration is to implement it not only in clothing but as a purpose of life. Hacing this in mind he is applying the amalgamation of industrian / nature / human values / the space within as the fundamental inspirational engine in order to epress his awareness about the modern social enviroment and in result is using clothing as a medium to communicate with the rest of humanity.

Aptform’s FW line is a excellent balance between well fitted casual wear meshed with oversized clean lines peices making the line wearable for most occations.

Make sure to check the Aptform site for the rest of Gkinis’s FW08/09 line and the soon to come SS09 line.

FW08/09

Komakino

Komakino

I am appreciating this futuristic designs from London UK’s label Kamakino Design mash up which seems to have taken inspiration from 50’s/60’s contemporary design of the future and the modern off beat oversized trend currently happening.Could the name be influenced by the Joy Devision song Kamakin? I don’t know… just a thought. With this possibility it makes a bit more sense and its possible to see kinda a post-punk UKish influence in the designs.

Take note Komakino Design should not be mistaken for Komakino Gorilla Store out of Vancouver Canada->Post to follow.

5 PreView Comments | Jul 10 2008

PreView

PreView

PreView

A new shirt company is making an impact in the world and I would go out and say could possible be the new HoH of 2k9. based out of Rome Italy 5 PreView seems to draw influence from the punk / thrash / electro scene.

Is the whole alt masked Dj thing an inspiratoin of 5PreView or is that whole mystery dj/producer being influenced by them? Anyways can anybody say Bloody Beetroots…? HeartsRevolution…?

A bit of background…When House of Holland came out with the large font t-shirt prints with witty sayings everyone was lovin’ it. With their new lines, HoH have definitely a more mature design yet still true to their original “clame to fame”. Once HoH set this lets say style H&M quickly cough on with half ass pointless saying.  So with that being said I am calling 5PreView as being the shirt company of 2k9.

Lets leave it at I am lovin’ the design/shirts from 5PreView def. watch out for them!

Put The Rifle Down Comments | Jun 21 2008

Put The Rifle Down

My good buddy Dj Barletta just saw Put The Rifle Down in Toronto the other day and has since had me hooked on such melodic songs which seem to have taken a large influence from late 80’s pop rock (u2 maybe) which could maybe now be considered synth-pop-dance-rock.
