Sometimes it’s right to do the wrong things. Comments | Jul 27 2008

I was lucky enought to make it out to the ottawa premier of The Wackness at the Bytown Cinema. The film was written and directed by Jonathan Levine and has a cast of Ben Kingsley, Famke Janssen, Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby and Mary-Kate Olsen. The sound track was filled with artists like NasNotorious B.I.G., OutkastA Tribe Called Quest, Dj Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince and Method Man. A quick plot overview

Its the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana. The newly-inaugurated mayor, Rudolph Giuliani, is only beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against crimes like noisy portable radio, graffiti and public drunkenness. The Wackness centers upon a troubled high school student named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck)a teenage pot dealer who forms a friendship with Dr. Jeffrey Squires (Ben Kingsley), a psychiatrist and kindred lost soul. When the doctor proposes Luke trade him weed for therapy sessions, the two begin to explore both New York City and their own depression.Propelled by an exuberant hip hop score, The Wackness captures the spell of 1994–a time of pagers, not cell phones; a time when Tupac and Biggie were alive but Kurt Cobain had just died. Funny and moving, The Wackness is an offbeat tale of two lost souls stumbling towards maturity.

It was good enough I am contemplating seeing it again. So everyone should at least see it once.  The Wackness dBRAP!!

Red Bull Flugtag - Gatineau Museum of Civilization Comments | Jul 14 2008

On Aug. 3rd at the Gatineau Museum of Civilization Red Bull is hosting their Flugtag event. I’m not too sure what I think of it as it currently seems to be no way to win. However the even looks like it could at least hold some hilarity to it. So check it out. Aug 3rd. Gatineau Museum of Civilization, if you don’t know where that is you probably are not from Canada and should not bother trying to make it to this event, wait until Red Bull hold an event in your area.

Summer is winding down… Comments | Aug 24 2007

With one week of work left the anticipation of school is finally catching up to me. I am actually very excited to be heading back to Ottawa for school. This year will be busy, being my final year. I am however ready for the hectic schedules and busy nights. For a current look at our thesis project and blog please take the time to check out EmoCapsule.com.

LA is no longer happening. There are so many oppertunities available in Ottawa during the first week of September I just couldn’t miss them.

I am currently reading Wikinomics How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything by Don Tapscott and Anthony D. Williams. I was really interested when they started talking about the remix culture. They were referencing The Gray Album by Danger Mouse and a bunch of other projects. I am guessing that the Electro/House remix scene was a bit smaller than the hip-hop one they mentioned.

Here is some music…
Not all of these songs are remixes or mash-ups, there just good tunes!

The Bell - I Am History
The Bell Myspace

Scissors For Lefty - Next To Argyle

Kid Sister VS. Chris Carter - Control VS. Misnomer (JDE Mash)

Whitney Houston - I’m Every Woman(VNDLSMRemix)

Feist - 1234(VanSheTechnologicRemix)
