I just want to be a Brother and you should too! Comments | Jan 13 2009

A relatively new project coming out of Toronto is Brothers, with over 73 Billion friends on myspace already will only bring great things with such exposure. It also makes you want to be a Brother as well so add them and be part of the fun! Their rough and catchy tunes keep me listening and their energetic and hard hitting riffs and dancey melodies keep me doin’ work. In accordance with the blurb taken from Brothers myspace I too always fell that the more instruments adding to the depth of the music creates interest making it more fun to write, preform and listen to. This is exactly what they have done all while managing to keep the Brother count at 3 members. For a reference on this check out Man Man and their video on Pitchfork.TV.

Below is a wonderful description of Brothers taken from their myspace:

I’ve always thought music needed to have as many guitars/pianos/harmoniums/hand claps/voices as physically possible, with never ending sonic layers. BROTHERS is a very standard three-piece rock outfit. I’ve always thought that a song needed an enormous amount of annoying time changes to keep it interesting. BROTHERS has only a few annoying time changes. I’ve always been too nervous and critical of my voice to sing in other bands. In BROTHERS, I am the lead singer.

I can’t wait to hear more from these Brothers and be able to make it to one of their shows. For now just sit tight and enjoy these courtesy MP3s.

Brothers - Big Baby, New Chance

Brothers - Dancing in-the Streets!

Empire Of The Sun can walk on dreams and The Killers are dancers Comments | Oct 24 2008

Empire Of The Sun are one of those bands from Australia that are proving there are no “bad” music coming from the land down under. Empire Of The Sun consist of Nick Littlemore of Pnau and Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson. Who knows I could be hatted for this reference but Empire Of The Sun kind of reminds me of a Australian MGMT in a with their easy listening pop psychedelia. Many people have been claiming that the remix of Walking On A Dream by Sam La More (Sam Littlemore the brother of Nick Littlemore) is the best rmx of the song. While it is good, my vote goes with VanShe Tech remix. Empire Of The Suns debut album is currently available on iTunes - watch the video and when you see the album link click it and it will talk you to the iTunes store.

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream (Van She Tech REmix)

Empire Of The Sun - Half Mast

The new song by The Killers does not suck, it is just as authentic and majestic a band can get. Noting The Killers are getting weirder and more obscure their music keeps raising the bar for the fusion between Indie Rock and Alternative music. Human starts off with similarities to U2 and blends into a more familiar sound of When You Were Young but making sure that they are not just banking of the sound and success of their previous hit. I found Human also shares similarities with the Toronto group Put The Rifle Down. Aside from the roaming majestic animals I am in awe of Brandon Flowers feather vest… like what? A-mazing. The Killers new album Day & Age is being released November 25, 2008.

The Killers - Human

I’ve been playing around with new music video and Overlay.TV’s interactive features for online video. That’s how I addeed all the dynamic content, text and links into the videos. Help the artists out and link to where you can buy their albums/mp3’s online. Overlay.TV allows you to link through the videos you post to itunes/beatport/amazon etc. YE!

Probably the happiest people alive! Comments | Oct 21 2008

Matt and Kim are an infused indie pop duo from Brooklyn with raw and catchy tunes. Their track Yea Yeah which really allowed them to take off came out over a year ago and they have done it again with the newly released Daylight single [video above]. I first say Matt and Kim in Toronto last summer when they played at Mod Club and quickly realized that they are probably the happiest people I have ever seen. Their whole set both of them had a huge smile across their faces and were authentically loving life being super fun and just playing their music. If you want proof if this claim just watch their new video for Daylight or their Yea Yeah video, happiest people ever!

Psychedelic Beach Walks Comments | Oct 19 2008

I’ve been listening to a more calmer style of music as of late. I say its the productivity level that isn’t hinder by loud, fast electro/ghetto/glitch tracks. Some of the highlights from the bands that I’ve listened to for a long while but feel they need to be recognized more, well some are pretty popular and others are still fairly unknown. Passion Pit, M83, Air France and MGMT. They all have similar styles of psychedelic pop infused synth rocking with easy listening of some sort but everything is overly catchy and relaxing. Listening to these songs really just makes me want to go for a stroll on the beach at sunset or just drift around in space  and not worry about a thing.

Passion Pit - Better Things

Passion Pit - Sleepy Head

M83 - Graveyard Girl

M83 - Teen Angst

Air France - Karibien

Air France - No Excuses

MGMT - Kids (This Is My Empire RMX)

MGMT - Of Moons Birds & Monsters

Teenagers Bring Back Britney Comments | Sep 30 2008

Britney Spears

Teenagers have the power to do a lot of things in society, but could anyone have thought that teenagers could revive Britney’s career? I sure didn’t…. well the remix by The Teenagers just may have brought Britney back in a matter of a 4 minute song. Love it.

Britney Spears - Womanizer (The Teenagers RMX)

We Have Band? Comments | Sep 18 2008

We Have Band

We Have Band is a group from London UK and are signed to the french music/fashion label Kitsune. Their music reminds me of a more raw and bass heavy/ art dance rock The Teenagers and an odd carnival feel like Man Man. But can anyone still say Progressive 80’s music? It doesn’t matter cause there’s a tinge of that in the music We Have Band plays. Just love it.

We Have Band - You Came Out

We Have Band - Oh
