Bloc Party

On Monday Aug. 18 ‘08 Bloc Party announced that this Thursday, the 21 their new album Intimacy was going to be released online and in stores this winter. The interview with Gordon Moakes with Pitchfork talks about what prompted the early and quick release considering that the album was mastered only about a week ago. With the intent of the record to be released winter 08/09 having the album drop today is a perfect example of the groups dedication to the album.

Bloc Party - Version 2.0

Bloc Party - TrojanHorse

Bloc Party - Signs

Bloc Party - One Month Off

Bloc Party -  Better Than Heaven

Mercury was Bloc Party’s first leaked single from Intimacy and kind of blew everyone away. Check the video and the Herve remix of Mercury.

Where are Black Holes Comments | Aug 17 2008

The Black Holes

I just heard about Black Holes are from Chicago Illinois and have a heavy ghetto tech sound fused with b-more and winding synths is similar to that of Crookers, DJ Barletta and the likes but twist and alter the ghetto tech beats to a unique hum. There legitness is also raised due to the large quantity of PBR in this photo.

Rmxing Caked Up by Hollywood Holt is also super super tight.

V is for Van She Comments | Aug 11 2008

Van She

On August number 9 the debut full length from Van She is being released. If you loved The Teenagers Reality Check, I would defiantly recommend checking out Van She’s album V.

The similarities lie with the 80’s popish synths and drums.Van She hail from Sydney Australia and have been making amazing tracks since ‘05. Listening to their album I can hear influences from Nirvana, U2 and Perl Jam. For being a Psychedelic / Shoegaze / Techno (according to their myspace page) band its great hearing classic influences twisted into a more modern shape. Accordingly Modular describes Van She as a “new band from Sydney fresh on ideas, fresher than Flavor Flav, fresh like coriander, fresher than the Fresh Prince.” - Amazing.

Along with their band two members also do remixes of your fab. fav. groups and producers under the name Van She Technologic… here is some songs off their new album V.

Strangers

Van She - Sunbeams

Van She - Virgin Suicide

Through A Keyhole and on to disco Comments | Jul 29 2008

Le Castle Vania

Le Castle Vania has some killer tunes and these remixs are for sure some of them. Hailing from ALT. URB mentioned him as one of the next 100 and he has be praised by both Fader and Nylon. Through A Keyhole and Zero Machine(orig. a Smashing Pumpkins tune) are dirty, heavy and disco. Also check his side project Lies In Discuise with Blake Miller from Moving Units. How much more legit can you get when your have a saying like”I LOVE YOU BUT I’VE CHOSEN DISCO”?

The Virgins … Comments | Jun 26 2008

The VirginsThe Virgins, a band that sounds very UK…ish? I think so but their from NYC and started back in 2005. In my opinion just ahead of the whole scene in America. There good, easy indie rockish new wave (if that genre still exists) soul. Non the less it’s great music that will last. Really, just listen to The Virgins and enjoy the sounds. They remind me slightly of the UK band Mystery Jets… does anyone else think so?

Whats Next In Electro Comments | Jun 23 2008

The BeatlesThe Rolling Stones

I often wonder what is going to happen with electro once the electro hip hop things kinda dies down. I remember when the first few electro hip hop colab stuff started poppin in blogs we were calling it. So what is next nowthat electro with hip hop vocals is being done by everyone? Well I am calling for a come back of nostalgia. It’s slowing creeping up into rmx’s such as Crookers rmx of Thunderstruck Bloody Beetroots rmx of Ill to Destroy, my previous post feat. Top Billin and their rmx of Scott McKenzi’s San Francisco(Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)… So what is next, maybe some Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Simone and Garfunkle…? Anyways I found the following done by My!Gay!Husband!Crookers and Tommie Sunshine .Enjoy!

The Beatles - Michelle (My!Gay!Husband! RMX)

ACDC - Thunderstruck(Crookers RMX)

The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil (Tommie Sunshine’s Edit)

I did not have the originals so maybe I’ll post them in a few days…
