Os Gemeos Interview Comments | Jul 13 2008

Carnivalesque Dreams of Os Gemeos from Scribe Media on Vimeo.

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Os Gemeos ever since I got into graffiti and street art. When I was able to find this interview with the twins at their Too Far Too Close show in the Deitch Projects space. The Show runs from June 28 to August 09, 2008 18 Wooster Street, New York and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 12PM to 6PM!

Os Gemeos is famous for their their use of the famous Brazilian style labeled pixacao. They grew up in São Paulo, Brazil and are self taught artists drawing influences from their surrounds and Brazilian culture and history. One of the most prominent aspects I found of their style is the wonderful use of space, utilizing what city scape’s have to offer. Their use of vivid colour and exuberant patterns within their murals draw attention and really makes their work stand out.

If you are not familiar with Os Gemeos’s work here are a few photo examples.

Photographs By Ryan McGinley Comments | Jun 24 2008

Ryan McGinleyRyan McGinleyRyan McGinleyRyan McGinleyRyan McGinleyRyan McGinleyRyan McGinleyRyan McGinley has a unique style in his photographs. They are just raw, bare bones and almost look accidental or amateurish. Seeing that the majority of his subjects are nude oddly adds to the subjects story being told in the photos. McGinley, at the age of 24 was the youngest artist to have a solo show at New Yorks Whitney Museum of American Art. He graduated from Parsons School of Design B.F.A. Graphic Design… It seems that almost everyone in the art and design world went to Parsons

Paintings by Richard Prince Comments | Jun 22 2008

I was first introduced to Richard Prince when I was in New York and he had an exhibit at the Guggenheim. I was drawn to the large scale joke painting which were witty and in some people could find them to be inappropriate. I just found them hilarious and made me want to tell them to people as jokes myself. I also really enjoyed Prince’s his Nurse series. I know some people do not like this series because of the unknown, a little morbid and slightly erotic undertones. I found it there meaning, thought provoking, and the expression by Prince were very in your face.

Adidas with Surface 2 Air vs Upper Playground Comments | May 31 2008

Adidas Originals hooked up the Left-Right Project a web film which documented a art/design competition between artists from Surface 2 Air (NYC) and Upper Playground (San Francisco). The idea is amazing, the art is one of a kind and the film is fun. YE! If only I could get one of the super size shoes…

OBEY Barack Obama Comments | Mar 26 2008

I’ve seen Shepard Fairey’s Obama posters floating around the internet these days and its great that he is backing what he believes in. I just came across this Thank You letter from Obama to Shepard for the posters he has been creating in support for the next election. Shepard’s support led to the prints being sold on Obama’s campaign’s site.

Thank You OBEY
