A great site for street wear and underground fashion is HighSnobiety.com and over the summer they have launched two other sibling sites being HighSnobette and Selectism. While checking out HighSnobette I saw these Zanotti suede ankle boots and felt the design and color were amazing. Unique detailing and with a simplistic form. There available at Net-A-Porter. If you owned these I would want to date you.
I posted about Muxtape in this previous post when it was first released. They have added some awesome new features such as more favorites, new colour picker, large file upload etc and I’ve finally got around to making a complete “Muxtape” check it here jshaw3.muxtape.com. Like serious my Muxtape will entertain you for hours.
I first found out about Theodore Watson with his collaboration with Evan Roth(ni9e) with the graffiti analysis / lazer tag project. However his work is amazing, completely interactive, loved by everyone who takes part in his installations and always visually addictive. Taken from his bio here is more information. He was a source of inspiration for our Senior Thesis project this year - Emocapsule.com
Theodore Watson is an artist, designer and experimenter whose work is born out of the curiosity and excitement of designing experiences that come alive and invite people to play. Theodore’s work ranges from creating new tools for artistic expression, experimental musical systems, to immersive, interactive environments with full-body interaction. His recent work includes the Graffiti Research Lab’sLaser Tag, laser graffiti system and Funky Forest, an immersive interactive ecosystem for young children. Theodore works together with Zachary Lieberman on openFrameworks, which is an open source library for writing creative code in C++.
An update on Emocapsule.com, with great news our group has been ACCEPTED to take part in SIGGRAPH 2008 being hosted in LA. We will be presenting the week of August 11 - 15 at Los Angeles Convention Centre. This is big news, for those unaware as to what SIGGRAPH (short for Special Interest Group on GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) is a Internation Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactivity Techniques which is being hosted at the LA Convention Center during August 11 - 15 2008. In 2005 25 000 people attended the conference, this is something to be pumped about being accepted to.
EmoCapsule is a study of interactivity. Participants influence the installation by inputting their emotions at emocapsule.com. The website provides users with emotional statistics and trends based on frequency, location, and weather information collected. The installation is dynamically updated to reflect the dominant emotional mood.
Visitors interact with the current emotional state of the EmoCapsule installation - depicted through sound, text, and colour. Participants move and catch emotion words using their own silhouette and other objects. Participants make loud noises, triggering the installation to emit reactive sounds and display new words. These form a sort of conversation between the user and the installation space.
So if you will please check out Emocapsule.com and or the SIGGRAPH website. With Love JSHAW and the EmoCapsule Team
A long time friend of my Dj Barletta has started a much anticipated blog The Factory Press . He has only been posting for a few weeks but has defiantly established a good following and a strong base in the blogging world. As well as congrats for being invited to contribute to Bryan Cox’s blog Crux Da House.
I’ve recently been looking threw a lot of typography and one site that seems to have it all is Veer. It’s a website that not just sells fonts but a lot of other useful things like photography, illustrations and merchandise. One item I really enjoy is the umbrella, it’s extremly classic with a hint of contemporary style created with the inside typography.
You can buy the umbrella at the Veer website under merchandise.
I was unable to make it to FITC this year in Toronto, I am going to get there some time though. Anyways Evan Roth and G.R.L. were one of the speakers and had some stuff for sale at Function 13 as well as having an installation of the Graffiti Analysis at Pixel Gallery. If your interested more in Graffiti Analysis see a previous post I did when they exhibited at MoMa. I was just super pumped when I found this photo of G.R.L bombin’ the CN Tower, so legit! Love it!
