Project President A Mock-Reality Web Series Comments | Nov 03 2008

Project President - Episode 1! from Project President on Vimeo.

Project President is a  good group of recent graduates I know that have been working on A brave new mock-reality web series taking on the US Presidential Election.

A rag-tag group of recent TV school grads, comedians, pals and dolls come together to mock (and to cope with) the possibility of an unnamed someone coming within very close proximity to a position for which that person is not equipped. If that should happen, they joked, “it could basically be anyone.” They laughed. They cried. They made Project President. Armed with their cameras, some comedy, computers and caffeine, these young men and women bring you this series. Because anyone, it seems, is fit to be President.

The Project President team’s only goal is to have as many people as possible see these videos. If you seek any web content, and think this series is humorous, we invite you to please post it.

Make sure to drop them a web mail message at  Also social them: Vimeo, YouTube, Myspace, Blogger.

Refinery 29 Comments | Jul 05 2008

Refinery 29 Page

I’ve recently been loving the publication/blog Refinery 29. They are out of NYC and cater to Fashion, Travel, Music, Deisgn oriented people. They have a LA edition as well. The site has everything from Shop directories per city as well as online video content. They are “devoted to seeking out the people, products, and ideas that set the bar for originality and exceptionally, season after season.” Which is great!! Since I first came across Refinery 29 i have notices significant content updates and site improvements which really emphasizes their whole “forward thinking” ideals.

I would defiantly mark Refinery 29 as a bi-weekly stop on your online browsing.

Monocle Magazine Comments | Jun 26 2008

Monocle MagazineMonocle, first published in February 2007 is a global briefing covering international affairs, business, culture and design. Headquartered in London with bureaux in Tokyo, Sydney, Zürich and New York. It is published 10 times a year with frequent online updates on their website. The publication started by Canadian journalist and entrepreneur Tyler Brûlé. Brûlé was the one behing Wallpaper* when it started in 1996 in London - which also happens to be another one of my favorite publications. What draws me to Monocle is its diverse content targeted towards an urbanite. In brief Monocle was developed for an international audience hungry for information across a variety of sectors, Monocle’s team of award-winning editors and correspondents have been drawn from The New York Times, The Independent on Sunday, the BBC, CBC and a host of other news and current affairs outlets. I highly recommend gazing through the site or printed pages if your any sort of rennesance man or woman.

Share/Save/Bookmark Accepted to SIGGRAPH ‘08 Comments | Jun 24 2008

An update on, with great news our group has been ACCEPTED to take part in SIGGRAPH 2008 being hosted in LA. We will be presenting the week of August 11 - 15 at Los Angeles Convention Centre. This is big news, for those unaware as to what SIGGRAPH (short for Special Interest Group on GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) is a Internation Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactivity Techniques which is being hosted at the LA Convention Center during August 11 - 15 2008. In 2005 25 000 people attended the conference, this is something to be pumped about being accepted to.

EmoCapsule is a study of interactivity. Participants influence the installation by inputting their emotions at The website provides users with emotional statistics and trends based on frequency, location, and weather information collected. The installation is dynamically updated to reflect the dominant emotional mood.

Visitors interact with the current emotional state of the EmoCapsule installation - depicted through sound, text, and colour. Participants move and catch emotion words using their own silhouette and other objects. Participants make loud noises, triggering the installation to emit reactive sounds and display new words. These form a sort of conversation between the user and the installation space.

So if you will please check out and or the SIGGRAPH website. With Love JSHAW and the EmoCapsule Team

Yves Saint Laurent - The End Of An Era Comments | Jun 04 2008

YSL Hommage

For most this is probably old news however if you are unaware Yves Saint Laurent passed away June 1 2008 at the age of 71. Saint Laurent was widely considered the last of a generation of fashion designers that included Christian Dior and Coco Chanel and made Paris the fashion capital of the world. I posted 3 videos one from his Haute couture show in 1962, a Fall/Winter 2008 YSL show and an arty manifesto from S/S08.

A worth while exhibit is being displayed at the Montreal Museum of Fine Art.

For the first time in 25 years, a museum is putting on a major retrospective of Yves Saint-Laurent’s work. And while Love, opening today at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, decidedly favors womenswear (and deservedly so), there are still a few things for the gents—early sketches and drawings of his dabbling in menswear, not to mention photos of the dapper man himself. (Sadly, there’s nothing from the Ford or Pilati eras.) The show is timed to the 40th anniversary of YSL’s founding, and will head to San Francisco’s de Young Museum later this year.
Love: Yves Saint Laurent, today through Sept. 28, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, 1380 Sherbrooke St. W., (514) 285-2000.

FITC And Function 13 And G.R.L. Comments | May 10 2008

GRL Toronto Pixel Gallery

I was unable to make it to FITC this year in Toronto, I am going to get there some time though. Anyways Evan Roth and G.R.L. were one of the speakers and had some stuff for sale at Function 13 as well as having an installation of the Graffiti Analysis at Pixel Gallery. If your interested more in Graffiti Analysis see a previous post I did when they exhibited at MoMa. I was just super pumped when I found this photo of G.R.L bombin’ the CN Tower, so legit! Love it!
