Yesterday we were strolling down Robertson the other day shopping and living the dream in LA and sure enough the paparazzi were in full force chasing peeps and taking photos of the famous doing everyday things when they all started booking it to the gas station taking super photos. Sure enough it was Sienna Miller filling up her car. I found photos of the event on z17online.com so check them. On Robertson we checked Kitson, WeSc among others.
Keep up to date here with more photos of LA and my super adventures involving Siggraph, LA, Beverly Hilly, Santa Monica, NewPort beach and everything else fun.
What is next in music, there’s only so many nostalgic tunes that deserve to be brought back from the dead, when we exhaust these what will we do…?Is electro going to last for ever or fade out soon? The music industry is blending every other style of music and its getting pretty ridiculous so why not just go all out? What will it be replaced with? Folkno (folk & techno), Op-unk (opra & punk), hip-tic (hip-hop & celtic)?
On Aug. 3rd at the Gatineau Museum of Civilization Red Bull is hosting their Flugtag event. I’m not too sure what I think of it as it currently seems to be no way to win. However the even looks like it could at least hold some hilarity to it. So check it out. Aug 3rd. Gatineau Museum of Civilization, if you don’t know where that is you probably are not from Canada and should not bother trying to make it to this event, wait until Red Bull hold an event in your area.
I’ve been a HUGE fan of Os Gemeos ever since I got into graffiti and street art. When I was able to find this interview with the twins at their Too Far Too Close show in the Deitch Projects space. The Show runs from June 28 to August 09, 2008 18 Wooster Street, New York and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 12PM to 6PM!
Os Gemeos is famous for their their use of the famous Brazilian style labeled pixacao. They grew up in São Paulo, Brazil and are self taught artists drawing influences from their surrounds and Brazilian culture and history. One of the most prominent aspects I found of their style is the wonderful use of space, utilizing what city scape’s have to offer. Their use of vivid colour and exuberant patterns within their murals draw attention and really makes their work stand out.
If you are not familiar with Os Gemeos’s work here are a few photo examples.
After all of the controversy and buzz about Jay-Z headlining at Glastonbury this is the outcome… awesomeness and one of the best live performances when it comes to playing to a crowd. Opening with Oasis‘ Wonderwall, than straight into 99 Problems mashed with ACDC, magnificent. Anyways I’ve located the full performance hosted on MediaFire in a .zip and mp3 quality of 192kb so its pretty decent. Enjoy!
An update on Emocapsule.com, with great news our group has been ACCEPTED to take part in SIGGRAPH 2008 being hosted in LA. This is big news, for those unaware as to what SIGGRAPH (short for Special Interest Group on GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) is a Internation Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactivity Techniques which is being hosted at the LA Convention Center during August 11 - 15 2008. In 2005 25 000 people attended the conference, this is something to be pumped about being accepted to.
EmoCapsule is a study of interactivity. Participants influence the installation by inputting their emotions at emocapsule.com. The website provides users with emotional statistics and trends based on frequency, location, and weather information collected. The installation is dynamically updated to reflect the dominant emotional mood.
Visitors interact with the current emotional state of the EmoCapsule installation - depicted through sound, text, and colour. Participants move and catch emotion words using their own silhouette and other objects. Participants make loud noises, triggering the installation to emit reactive sounds and display new words. These form a sort of conversation between the user and the installation space.
So if you will please check out Emocapsule.com and or the SIGGRAPH website. With Love JSHAW and the EmoCapsule Team
Adidas Originals hooked up the Left-Right Project a web film which documented a art/design competition between artists from Surface 2 Air (NYC) and Upper Playground (San Francisco). The idea is amazing, the art is one of a kind and the film is fun. YE! If only I could get one of the super size shoes…
